The Dunk became the sneaker world's default because Nike never protected it. The Dunk absorbed the credibility without inheriting the reverence. A release themed around luck and lottery tickets could only work on a shoe like that, one where a concept can be tried out without anybody accusing you of desecrating an icon.

SE stands for special edition, which in practice means extra material or applied detail beyond a standard release: additional graphic elements, swapped textures, or components layered onto the base build. The shoe underneath is unchanged, a low, wide, flat leather panelled Dunk with a padded collar and a full length Swoosh, and that plainness is precisely what makes the added elements legible. Nike's engineering inheritance runs beneath it all, from Bowerman's waffle iron sole onward. Special edition detailing needs careful handling, since applied graphics and mixed textures do not respond to the same cleaning as smooth leather. Dab, never scrub, avoid solvent entirely, and keep the pair out of direct sun to protect any printed sections.
