New Balance 530 White Pearl Grey

Released on 9 January 2025 and part of New Balance's 530 line. This release has a mesh upper in White/Pearl Grey. White Pearl Grey is the 530 at its most literal. This is the colourway that made the model, the pale, silvery, faintly iridescent finish that reads instantly as a two thousands running shoe and as nothing else. New Balance built the 530 in the plain part of its catalogue, a shoe designed to be functional rather than admired, from a company that started in 1906 making arch supports and only later made shoes. Pearl grey was a technical colour then, the standard finish of a gym shoe. It became a fashion colour later, when normcore and high fashion reclaimed exactly that kind of plainness and turned it into a position rather than an absence.
