Origin
Yecheil breaks the rule that made Yeezy famous. For years the line held to a monochrome earth tone discipline, colours named after materials and terrain, and then this makeup arrived with a multicoloured knit that scatters bright yarn across a dark base. Nothing about it is quiet. It belongs to a run of 350 V2 releases that pushed the model away from its neutral origins and towards pattern, at the point when the shape had already become the most recognisable in the partnership. The Non Reflective label distinguishes it from the version whose threads flare under a camera flash. adidas terminated the Yeezy partnership on 25 October 2022, so this colourway now circulates as archive rather than in season stock.
Utility
A busy knit needs a plain outfit. Recipe one: black straight leg trousers, a black tee, a black bomber, so the shoe is the only colour in the frame and reads as intentional. Recipe two: mid wash denim and a plain grey hoodie, letting one thread colour from the upper repeat in a cap or a bag and nothing else. Avoid patterned clothing entirely with this pair. Fit is snug through the midfoot, so take your usual size. Coloured yarn on a dark base hides dust reasonably well but shows water marks, so keep them dry. Dry brush after wear, foam clean stains gently so the bright yarn does not fuzz, air dry indoors, and store out of direct sunlight to keep the colours from dulling.
Influence
Multicoloured 350 V2 makeups mark the moment the model stopped being a quiet flex and started behaving like a statement piece. The drop model behind them, deliberately limited numbers released on announced dates, had already built queue culture, bot buying and a resale market larger than the retail one, and a loud colourway was designed to be seen in exactly that environment. GQ had called these the most influential sneakers around in 2016, and Forbes in 2020 framed the line as one of the great retail stories of the century. Kanye West founded and designed Yeezy; adidas ended the partnership on 25 October 2022 over his antisemitic public remarks, calling them unacceptable, hateful and dangerous.
Construction
The upper is Primeknit, one piece and machine knitted, which is what allows the multicoloured yarn to run continuously across the shoe instead of being confined to stitched panels. That matters visually: the pattern flows over the toe and around the heel with no seam breaking it. Beneath sits a Boost midsole of expanded TPU pellets, speckled and springy, which on a busy upper acts as the calm surface. In this non reflective build the coloured threads stay matte in flash photography rather than lighting up. No logo appears anywhere outside. The pull on collar and rope laces work the same as any 350 V2, snug through the midfoot with a knit that gives as it warms.
