Designed by Peter Moore and released on 26 April 2024 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in University Blue/Black/White. University Blue is not a neutral choice on a Jordan shoe. Jordan Brand equips college basketball programmes including North Carolina, the university Michael Jordan himself attended, alongside Georgetown, Cincinnati and Michigan, and that blue is the colour everyone reads first. Putting it on a golf make of the Air Jordan 1 High takes the founding silhouette, drawn by Peter Moore with Bruce Kilgore for a rookie Nike signed in October 1984, and sends it onto a course wearing a college reference. It is the most loaded quiet colour the brand has, and on a fairway it is doing two jobs at once, sporting and biographical.
Two ways to wear it. On the course, keep the palette calm: white or stone technical trousers with a plain white polo, so the university blue is the only colour statement and the high collar looks intentional rather than costume. Off the course, treat it as a smart sneaker: grey wool trousers with a navy knit, or white denim in summer. Never use a turf outsole as an everyday street sole, since that traction wears fast on concrete. Clean grass and soil out immediately after play, dry at room temperature away from heat, and condition the leather so pale blue does not go chalky.
The colour connects the brand back to where Jordan played before any of the commercial story began, and the brand still equips North Carolina among its college programmes. Everything around it was built later: the Spike Lee advertising with Lee directing and playing Mars Blackmon, the references from 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Ice Cube and Jay-Z, and a collecting economy valued around 2 billion dollars in resale. Golf is one of the categories that expansion reached, in the same period that Jordan Brand took on the Michigan Wolverines football programme in 2016 and Paris Saint-Germain in 2018. A blue High on a course is that whole arc in one object.
The upper follows the 1 High pattern, with leather panels across toe, quarter and heel, a stitched Swoosh and a padded high collar, adapted onto a golf specific outsole built for grip through a swing rather than a flat court sole. That is the meaningful difference and it dictates use: this traction is not designed for pavement and will not survive being treated as a street sole. Air cushioning entered the line from the Air Jordan II onward, so there is no unit here and the ride stays firm and low. Pale blue leather shows grass stains and water marks quickly, so protect it before the first round rather than after.
