    Culture Note™

Designed by Peter Moore and released on 16 June 2022 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in White/Black/Gym Red. You are looking at the Air Jordan 1 reduced to the two colours the whole thing was built on. Nike signed Michael Jordan on 26 October 1984, six years and 2.5 million dollars with a royalty attached, roughly three times what anyone else in the league was getting, and Peter Moore drew the first shoe with Bruce Kilgore for a rookie nobody had yet watched dominate. Red and white were Bulls colours before they were brand colours. The Low cuts the collar off that original silhouette, and the Flyease build rethinks how you get into it, which is the more interesting move: a shoe born as elite performance equipment reworked so that entry is not a barrier. White and gym red keeps the heritage reading intact while the closure points somewhere newer.
Gym red on white is loud enough to be the only colour you wear, so let it be. Straight leg indigo denim with a white tee and a grey crew is the version that never misses, red picking up nothing else in the fit. For the second recipe, go tonal: black wide leg trousers, black tee, and let the red panels be the single interruption. The Flyease entry makes this the pair for airports, hospital visits, long transit days and anyone who wants shoes on without sitting down. Low cut means no ankle support, so treat it as lifestyle footwear rather than court equipment. Wipe white panels the same day marks appear, since red dye transfer onto white is much harder to lift once set.
The Air Jordan 1 is the reason sneaker collecting became a mass activity rather than a hobby, and white with red is the reading everyone recognises. Nike built the Banned advertising around the league's uniform rule requiring shoes at least 51 percent white, paying the 5,000 dollar per game fine rather than redesigning, and taught the market that transgression sells. Spike Lee directed the earliest campaigns and played Mars Blackmon opposite Jordan, which put the shoe into film language before it was ever a resale asset. Rappers including 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Ice Cube and Jay-Z put Jordans in their verses. Original 1985 pairs have traded around 20,000 dollars on StockX.
Flyease is about entry, not decoration. Jordan Brand has been chasing faster closure for years, most visibly with the laceless FastFit system on the Air Jordan XXXIII, and this Low applies that thinking to the shoe that started the line. Expect a low collar you can open and secure without running a full lace routine, sitting on the Air Jordan 1 last that most people already know how their foot behaves in. Do not read Flyease as a stripped back version of the shoe. Nike Air cushioning has been part of this family since the Air Jordan II, and the low cut leaves the ankle free to move. The white and gym red split does its work through panel blocking rather than added hardware.
