    Culture Note™

Designed by Peter Moore and released on 14 October 2020 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has the Lucky Green/White/Sail/Black colourway. A full height Air Jordan 1 Retro in Lucky Green is the silhouette at its most graphic. High cut means the whole panel structure is visible: the wing shaped eyestay, the long quarter Swoosh, the Wings mark stamped at the ankle collar. That structure came from Peter Moore working with Bruce Kilgore on a shoe produced for Michael Jordan on 17 November 1984, and it has survived because it blocks colour better than almost any sneaker ever drawn. Green against white is a palette with no Bulls history at all, which is the point of the women's colour programme: the model gets to be a colour object rather than a memorial. The shape carries the reference on its own.
Green highs want a plain frame. White wide leg trousers and a cream knit gives you a bright summer build where the shoe is the only colour. For contrast, black denim with a black tee and a green cap picks the accent up once and stops the shoe looking accidental. Keep the hem above the collar so the green ankle stays visible, cuffed or cropped rather than stacked. Size to your usual length and lace fully for support. Protect before first wear, wipe the white midsole daily in dust, and keep strong whitening products off the green panels since they will lighten the dye.
Colour is the Air Jordan 1's native language. The Chicago red, black and white palette works as a brand mark, but the model's real trick is that any colour placed on those panels becomes instantly readable as a Jordan. That legibility is what made this the shoe that turned sneaker collecting into a mass activity, with original 1985 pairs reaching around 20,000 dollars on StockX and a resale market around it valued at roughly 2 billion dollars. Green makeups sit outside all of that history and still get read correctly on sight, which is the strongest evidence of how complete the recognition is.
White leather across the toe, quarter and midsole with Lucky Green on the Swoosh, collar and heel, so the green sits at the two ends of the shoe and pulls the eye along its length. The toe box is perforated, the collar is padded, and a foam midsole sits over a rubber outsole. On a High, lacing through the top eyelet is what gives you ankle hold, and skipping it leaves the collar open into a softer shape that many people prefer. Bright green leather holds saturation well but scuffs read as pale marks, so protect the heel and the lateral toe edge. Clean the white and the green with separate cloths.
