Designed by Bruce Kilgore and released on 14 June 2023 as part of Nike's Air Force 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Blue Tint/Blue Tint/Blue Tint. The Air Force 1 is a basketball shoe that stopped playing basketball and became a uniform. From the 1980s onward it sat alongside Air Jordans and Air Max models as a status symbol in urban and hip hop fashion, then settled into mainstream American youth dress and the athleisure years that followed. Blue Tint is one of the quieter reinterpretations: a pale, washed out blue that behaves almost like a neutral, applied to a women's low '07 with a PRM material upgrade. Where the standard white version is a blank statement, this one has a colour so soft it works like off white with a temperature, which is a much more useful thing to own.
Pale blue is a neutral with a mood. Wear it with white wide leg trousers and a grey knit for a soft, cool toned fit, or with washed light denim and a cream jacket so the whole outfit stays in one temperature. Air Force 1s run generous, so half a size down is the usual advice for women coming from a running shoe size. Good for office adjacent days, walking and travel, and comfortable for long hours thanks to the thick midsole. Tinted leather needs protection before first wear, immediate wiping after rain, and a dedicated foam cleaner rather than aggressive whitening products, which strip colour from the panels along with the dirt.
Nike's voice was built alongside its products. Just Do It, written by Dan Wieden of Wieden and Kennedy in 1988, first aired on 1 July 1988 with 80 year old runner Walt Stack, was named one of the top five ad slogans of the twentieth century by Advertising Age and is held in the Smithsonian. The Air Force 1 is the product equivalent of that line, a design so widely worn it stopped needing explanation. Women's exclusive colourways like Blue Tint matter because the model spent decades being discussed as a men's street shoe while being worn universally, and pastel executions are where the newer half of that audience got its own language.
Leather upper over a cupsole with Nike Air sealed inside the midsole, the same pressurised gas principle that Nike made visible with the 1987 Air Max but keeps hidden here. The PRM designation signals an upgraded material treatment, so the leather finish is the feature rather than a graphic. Blue Tint across the panels means the perforated toe, the stitched overlays and the heel tab carry the shape, and there is no contrast Swoosh shouting over them. Underfoot is the pivot circle outsole from the shoe's court era, still one of the most recognisable tread patterns Nike has drawn. A pale blue leather will show scuffs more readily than white, because white can be cleaned back and tinted leather cannot.
