Released on 14 December 2023 and part of Nike's Dunk SB line. This release has a suede upper in Lotus Pink/Digital Pink/Medium Soft Pink. The SB Dunk has always been the model where Nike tells a story rather than a specification, and a Powerpuff Girls edition puts that instinct on the smallest feet in the catalogue. Blossom is the red one, which sets the colour direction before any designer touches it, and a pre school build turns a collector's silhouette into a shoe a five year old will actually wreck. That is a healthier fate for it. The SB line's whole appeal has been narrative footwear, and giving a character themed pair to children who watch the character rather than to adults who trade the shoe is the version that makes the most sense.
Recipe one: red or pink shorts with a plain white tee, letting the shoe match one garment and nothing else. Recipe two: dark jeans and a hooded sweatshirt for school days, where the colour sits low and the outfit stays practical. For children the fit is the only serious consideration: leave a thumb width at the toe, recheck every couple of months, and pick strap closures if the child dresses without help. Character printing and coloured panels fade with sun and scrub cleaning, so wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap rather than putting them in a machine, which loosens the stitching and warps the midsole foam.
Nike has always sold through characters and films as much as through products. Spike Lee directed Air Jordan advertising and appeared in it as Mars Blackmon, and the company built one of its most memorable football films around Ronaldinho with the 2005 Touch of Gold spot. Storytelling footwear is the same reflex pointed at a younger audience: buy the shoe because you know the character, not because you know the silhouette. That works because Nike's court shoes have been staples of mainstream youth dress since the 1980s, so a Dunk already carries a meaning older siblings understand, and a licensed character makes it legible to a child who does not.
Pre school builds are engineered around small feet, not small versions of adult feet: a shorter and wider last, a softer and more flexible sole, and closure systems a child can manage alone, usually straps or elastic rather than full lacing. The upper keeps the Dunk's stitched panel layout so the shape stays recognisable, with the character palette carried across the toe, mudguard, Swoosh and collar, and themed detailing at the tongue and insole where it costs nothing structurally. Underfoot is a foam midsole with no visible air unit and a rubber outsole with a pivot circle, which gives a flat, stable base suited to children still developing balance. Printed detailing will wear before the leather does.
