The stripes on this shoe are the trademark that outlived the company that made them. They first appeared on the 1966 Mexico line, and when Onitsuka Tiger went dormant for roughly twenty five years after the 1977 merger that created Asics, the graphic was the asset waiting to be reused. The 2002 revival rebuilt the brand around it as fashion rather than sport. Multicolour executions are how the label now revisits its own competitive era without pretending to be a performance brand again, and they have found an audience since the early 2020s as the slim silhouette returned to the centre of sneaker culture.

The build is unchanged: slim leather upper, narrow last, low flat profile, thin cupsole, Tiger Stripes stitched on as overlay panels that structure the quarter. What changes is how the colour is split, with the green, red and yellow allocated across the stripe layers, heel tab and trim so no single colour occupies a large area. That distribution is what keeps a three colour shoe from looking like a costume. Birch is the most sensitive surface in the mix, showing creasing at the toe and dust along the sole edge first.
