Designed by Peter Moore and released on 23 January 2024 as part of Nike's Dunk line. This release has a suede upper in White/Team Red/Adobe/Dragon Red. Nike runs a seasonal calendar the way a fashion house runs collections, and Valentine's Day has become one of its fixed dates. The company has always been comfortable making shoes about occasions rather than about sport: Just Do It, written by Dan Wieden in 1988 and launched with an eighty year old runner named Walt Stack, proved that a Nike product could carry a feeling instead of a specification. This women's Dunk Low is the 2024 Valentine's edition, which means pinks and reds arranged across a low top court shape that was never designed to be sentimental. That tension is what makes the shoe work rather than what undermines it.
Two outfits. Soft and tonal: cream or oatmeal wide leg trousers, a white ribbed top and a grey knit, letting the pinks be the only saturation. Hard contrast: black leather or dark denim head to toe with red socks pulled slightly high, which stops the colourway reading as sweet. Good for date nights, weekends and daytime events. Dunks run slightly long, so half down if you want a close fit. Pre treat the pale panels with a protector, clean spills immediately because pink leather stains fast, use a white soled cleaner on the midsole only, and store in the box away from sunlight to stop the reds shifting.
The Dunk moved from courts into mainstream youth dress along the same route as Air Jordans, Air Force 1s and Air Max models, and its second life has been driven heavily by women's sizing and women's exclusive colourways. Nike has been building this side of its business for a long time, with Serena Williams, Allyson Felix and Jackie Joyner-Kersee among the athletes who carried the Swoosh, and its women's product now leads on seasonal storytelling rather than following the men's calendar. A Valentine's Dunk is that shift made obvious: an occasion shoe with real design attention.
Standard Dunk Low architecture with a women's last: a panelled upper, the Swoosh as the structural divider, a padded collar and a flat rubber cupsole. Holiday editions spend their budget on finishing rather than on platform changes, so look at the small parts here, the lace options, the tongue label, the insole print and any heel detailing, because that is where the theme actually lives. Layered pink and red panels sit at similar values, which means the shoe reads as a soft wash from a distance and only resolves into separate blocks up close. Light pink leather scuffs visibly, so the maintenance load is higher than a dark pair.
