Rather than a fresh, saturated red against bright white, this women's pair under style code FJ4555 100 uses an aged red and a softened off white, so the shoe arrives looking like it has already been owned. That is a deliberate design position: Nike's court shoes spent the 1980s and 1990s being worn hard in public, and the vintage treatment sells you the end state rather than the starting one. Nike itself dates to 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports in Eugene, Oregon, long before the Swoosh existed, and there is something fitting about a shoe designed to look like it has history built in.
Recipe one: cream wide leg denim, a burgundy knitted vest over a white shirt and a slouchy tote, letting the red repeat once above the ankle so the shoe looks chosen rather than leftover. Recipe two: a black midi skirt with opaque tights and an oversized grey sweatshirt, where the aged red warms up an otherwise cold palette. Vintage finishes are forgiving, which makes this a genuine everyday pair rather than a weekend one. Dunks run long, so half a size down suits most narrow feet.
