Origin
Designed by Peter Moore and released on 20 March 2025 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Pink Foam/Hyper Pink/Sail. Seasonal colourways are one of the ways the 1 keeps a calendar, and the Valentine's Day release is the most literal of them: pink and red placed on a silhouette that spent its early life fighting about red on a basketball court. The low cut has carried most of the line's experimental colour work because it has less surface area to overwhelm, and a grade school run makes the theme land where it is actually wanted. What keeps it from feeling like a novelty is the shape underneath. This is still the panelled leather 1 Peter Moore drew with Bruce Kilgore, with the perforated toe and the rubber cupsole intact, wearing a colour scheme it was never designed for.
Utility
Pink and red is a full statement, so surround it with neutrals. Light wash cropped jeans, a white tee and a grey cardigan lets the shoe be the entire colour story. The alternative is a single echo: black joggers with a black hoodie and one pink accessory, so the shoe reads as intentional rather than isolated. Keep socks white or pale, because dark socks under a pink low cut break the line badly. Care is the priority here: apply a protector spray before the first wear, clean with a white cloth and mild soap only, never a coloured sponge, and dry away from heat. Pale leather yellows in direct sun, so store them boxed rather than on a windowsill.
Influence
Red on this shoe carries a history that most seasonal colourways do not get to borrow. The league's uniform policy of the era wanted shoes at least 51 percent white and carried a 5,000 dollar per game fine, and Nike paid rather than redesign, turning the fine into the Banned campaign and teaching the market that transgression sells. Spike Lee's Mars Blackmon advertising made the shoe a character and hip hop kept it there, with 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Ice Cube and Jay-Z all referencing Jordans. A pink and red low for younger wearers is that inheritance recycled as something friendly, which is only possible because the shape is beyond argument now.
Construction
Low collar, leather panels, perforated toe box, rubber cupsole, Wings stamp on the heel. The pink and red weighting puts the warmer tone across the quarters and swoosh where it reads from a distance, with the base holding the shape. Pink leather is the most delicate colour this shoe comes in: it greys rather than stains, so dirt shows as a dulling across the whole panel instead of as a visible mark, and that is harder to reverse. Red panels next to pink can also shadow if the shoe soaks. The fit is the standard 1 low, snug at the instep with a full toe box, and lateral support comes entirely from lacing since there is no ankle collar to hold the foot.
