Designed by Peter Moore and released on 23 January 2025 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Summit White/Pure Platinum/Sail/Pine Green. White, pure platinum and pine green is a colder, more restrained reading of the Air Jordan 1 Mid than the model usually gets, and running it in a grade school size range says something about who the shoe is now for. Pine green has no place in the Chicago red, black and white scheme Jordan Brand treats as its own colours, which leaves it free to behave like a fashion tone rather than a team reference. Underneath, the geometry is Peter Moore's from 1984, drawn with Bruce Kilgore for a rookie Nike signed in October of that year. Three generations later the same panel layout is being sold to people who know it as a shape first and a basketball shoe second, if at all.
Recipe one: grey sweat trousers, a white hoodie and a black jacket, letting the green flash only when the shoe moves. Recipe two: dark denim with a clean cuff, a cream knit and a green cap echoing the accent once, deliberately. Avoid olive and navy, which sit too close to pine green to read as separate colours. The Mid collar wants a hem stopping just above it. Grade school lasts run narrower and shorter, so measure rather than guess.
Jordan Brand has been a standalone division inside Nike since 1997, with its own athlete roster, apparel and collaborations, and it long ago outgrew the sport it came from: sole equipment provider to the Michigan Wolverines football programme in 2016, sponsor of Paris Saint Germain in 2018, generating about 5.1 billion dollars for Nike by 2022. A youth sized Mid in an unfamiliar palette is the everyday face of that business. It is not the shoe anyone queues for, but it is how the silhouette keeps being learned by people who were not there for any of the original story.
Leather panels over a rubber cupsole, a padded mid height collar and the Wings mark that dates the earliest era of the line. White with a platinum grey and a deep green accent is a middle difficulty combination: the white and platinum panels sit close in tone so grime shows at their boundary before anywhere else, while the pine green hides almost everything. Clean the pale panels with foam and a soft brush weekly rather than monthly, keep a soft eraser for the midsole sidewall, and skip solvents. Grade school sizing runs on a smaller last than men's, so check the conversion carefully rather than assuming your usual number carries across.
