Designed by Yohji Yamamoto and released on 17 April 2023 as part of the Adizero Boston 11 line. This release has a textile upper in Black/Black/Off White. Y-3 is the line adidas built with Yohji Yamamoto, and it is the clearest proof that the company invented the modern fashion designer sneaker partnership before anyone else was trying. The arrangement is simple and has never changed: adidas supplies the sports engineering, Yamamoto supplies the eye, and the result belongs to neither wardrobe entirely. The Boston 11 takes a running lineage and rebuilds it in the Y-3 language, where proportion and silhouette matter more than a performance claim. Black with Off White is the house palette, the combination Yamamoto has worked in for decades, so this is the version of the shoe with nothing decorative between you and the shape.
Black and off white handles tailoring better than most sneakers. Try wide black wool trousers, a black crew and a long unstructured coat, letting the off white detail be the only break in the column. Or go softer: charcoal pleated pants, a heavy cream knit and a black overshirt so the two shoe tones both find an echo in the fit.
