Adidas Yeezy 500 Granite

Designed by Kanye West and released on 14 May 2022 as part of the Yeezy 500 line. This release has a mesh upper in Granite/Granite/Granite. The 500 arrived in December 2017 with a shape unlike anything else in the catalogue: wide, low and heavy, built on nineties trail and hiking references rather than on the sock like knit language that made the line famous. Granite is exactly the right name for it, a mid grey with the mottled, mineral quality of cut stone, and it sits alongside Moonrock and Pirate Black in a naming system that has always preferred geology to fashion. On this silhouette a grey tone works structurally as well as visually, because it lets you read the panelling and the bulk of the midsole without any colour blocking getting in the way.
