Stay Loyal belongs to the working half of the catalogue, the shoes Jordan Brand can make because it stopped being one signature model per year and became a Nike division in 1997 with its own roster, apparel and product lines. The third version in black, white and gold is the dress version of that idea. Gold is not part of the founding Chicago palette of red, black and white, so it functions here as a decision rather than a default: it puts the shoe closer to a trophy than to a jersey.
