Designed by Peter Moore and released on 1 October 2024 as part of Nike's Dunk line. This release has a suede upper in Phantom/Red Sepia/Sail/White. Red Sepia is a muted brick tone, warm and slightly dusty, and Next Nature is Nike's name for product built with content. Putting the two together on a women's Dunk Low says something about where the company is trying to go. Nike's material recovery work runs under Nike Grind, which takes manufacturing scrap and worn shoes back into new product and surfaces, and Next Nature is the consumer facing end of that thinking applied to a silhouette people already want. The Dunk itself comes from Nike's court years, the era when the brand became the shoe of basketball, and this version keeps that shape while changing what it is made from.
Two ways. First, autumn tonal: brown wide leg trousers, a cream ribbed top and a camel coat, where Red Sepia sits as the deepest note in a warm outfit. Second, hard reset: black straight leg jeans, a white tee and a black leather jacket, so the brick tone is the only warmth in the picture. Women's Dunk Lows fit close to true with a narrow midfoot and a padded collar that softens quickly. They are made for walking, not for sport. uppers dislike solvent, so use mild soap and a soft brush only, spot clean rather than soaking, and dry them away from radiators to stop the panels stiffening.
The Dunk's second life came from colourway culture rather than from performance. One silhouette, repeated in endless two tone combinations, became a way of signalling taste in a language everyone already read, which is the same mechanism that made Nike shoes status objects in urban and hip hop fashion from the 1980s onward. Sustainability lines are the newest layer on top of that, and they are judged more sceptically. Nike Grind is documented recycling infrastructure, and it is fair to say a Next Nature Dunk is part of that programme rather than a claim floating free of one. Whether the tone reads as ethical or just good looking is genuinely up to you.
Next Nature signals content in the build, which is Nike Grind logic applied at product level rather than at factory level. uppers behave slightly differently from virgin ones: the surface can read more matte and the panels tend to soften faster, which suits a muted tone like Red Sepia because the shoe looks broken in sooner rather than looking scuffed. The rest is standard Dunk Low anatomy: overlay panels stitched across a base, a padded low collar, flat lacing and a cupsole. Nike's outsole heritage traces to Bowerman's waffle iron experiments, chasing traction that did not add weight. No style code came with this listing, so confirm the colourway against the box label.
