Designed by Paul Van Doren and part of the Authentic line. This release has a velvet upper in Leopard/Pomegranate. Vans occupies a rare position among footwear brands: its shoes have long been customised cosmetically by their wearers, and the company has adopted many of those painting and drawing patterns for its own official models, a feedback loop in which the product line is partly designed by the people who wear it. The Authentic's name states its role plainly, positioning it as a foundational design in that catalogue, the kind of plain starting point a customisation culture needs before anything can be drawn on top of it. Sixteen products are carried under the model here, which fits a design meant to be everywhere rather than scarce.
