Adidas Samba OG Hazy Green (Women's)

Two recipes. Cream or stone wide trousers with a white shirt, so the green is the only colour and the outfit stays soft. Or black slim jeans with a grey knit, where the shoe warms up an otherwise cold palette. It suits daytime, dry weather and long walking, and it is not a rain shoe given the pale-toned upper. Size true with the narrow Samba last in mind. Protect the suede toe before first wear, wipe the upper with a damp cloth rather than scrubbing, keep it out of strong sun so the green does not fade patchily, and clean the gum sole with water alone.

Soft, faded greens became a staple of the way women's wardrobes absorbed the Samba, treating it as a colour piece rather than a sneaker. That absorption is the whole reason adidas Originals exists as a business: shapes from sport, worn by people with no interest in sport, in colours the original never had. Hazy Green is far enough from the classic colourways to read as a deliberate pick and close enough to neutral to work with almost everything. It also fits the way the Samba is now bought, as a colour choice inside an outfit rather than a sneaker purchase, which is a very different conversation from the one the shoe started in.

A hazy green leather or leather-look upper with suede reinforcement over the toe, contrast stitched Three Stripes and a gum-family rubber outsole. The stripes hold the upper against lateral flex, the structural job they were given on adidas footwear long before they became a logo. A full-colour upper means there is no neutral base to hide wear against, so the whole shoe ages together; expect the toe suede to soften and darken first. Underfoot it stays low and thin, which keeps the profile neat with cropped trousers. The leather relaxes across the forefoot within the first week of wear. Fit runs narrow through the midfoot, so allow for a thicker sock if you wear one.
