Origin
Released on 20 August 2023 and part of adidas's Samba line. This release has a leather upper in Night Navy/Cream White/Gum. Adi Dassler built the Samba in 1949 to solve a boring problem: footballers could not stay upright on frozen winter pitches. He put gum rubber with suction cups under a leather boot and reinforced the toe with a suede panel, the T-toe you still see. The name was pure marketing, borrowed from Brazil ahead of the 1950 World Cup, which is how a German winter trainer ended up carrying a Brazilian dance on its side. It started mid-cut for ankle support and dropped low as futsal took over indoor courts. Night Navy Gum is the version that behaves like a navy blazer: dark enough to sit under anything, warmed by the gum sole so it never reads corporate. Construction
