Origin
Designed by Peter Moore and released on 21 March 2024 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in University Blue/White/Black. A golf mule is the least likely object the Air Jordan 1 has produced, and it makes sense only because the brand stopped being a basketball line a long time ago. Jordan Brand became sole equipment provider to the Michigan Wolverines football team in 2016 and sponsored Paris Saint-Germain in 2018, its first association football club, and golf sits inside that same widening. University Blue is not an arbitrary pick either: it is the colour of North Carolina, Jordan's own university and one of the college basketball programmes the brand outfits. So this is the founding silhouette, cut down to a backless slip on, in the colours of the campus where the athlete played before Chicago.
Utility
Recipe one: white golf trousers with a navy quarter zip, keeping the fit to the course register the shoe was built for. Recipe two: off duty, cream shorts with a white polo and a blue overshirt, wearing them as a summer slip on with no socks or with low profile ones. This is a warm weather and clubhouse shoe rather than an all day walking option, since the open heel gives no lateral support on pavement. Size snugly, because a loose mule slaps at the heel.
