On Running On Cloudtilt Midnight Ice

Part of On Running's Cloudtilt line. This release has a mesh upper in Midnight/Ice. Midnight Ice puts the Cloudtilt in its most graphic register: a deep near black blue against a cold pale break, so the silhouette reads at distance the way a good piece of product design should. The Cloudtilt is On's everyday shape, the one that takes the brand's exposed structural sole and makes it wearable with normal clothes. Underneath the styling, the argument has not changed since Zurich in 2010, when Olivier Bernhard cut a garden hose into sections, glued them to a sole and proved a hollow shape could cushion a landing then stiffen for push off. He had taken it to Nike and been rejected, so he built the company with David Allemann and Caspar Coppetti instead.
