Released on 2 September 2022 and part of the adiFOM Q line. This release has a eva upper in Off-White/Aluminium/Wonder White. adidas went into its own archive for this one. The adiFOM Q takes its shape and its crafted-foam logic from the adidas Quake, a rugged runner from 2001, and adidas Originals put it plainly when they announced it: born in 2001, reborn in 2022. What came back is a translation rather than a reissue. The Quake's paneling is redrawn as a sculpted foam exoskeleton with scooped cutouts where the old mesh used to breathe. Off White, style code GY4455, is the colorway that lets you actually read that sculpt. With almost no color in the way you see the wave lines, the cutouts and the depth of the foam, and the single orange Trefoil on the tongue is the only interruption. If you want the adidas Adifom Q Off White in India, this is the original release of the model.
Two ways to wear it. Recipe one: wide cargos or nylon track pants cuffed just above the shell with a plain heavy tee, so the sculpted foam is the only shape talking. Recipe two: cropped straight denim with a chunky ribbed sock pulled up over the ankle, which fills the gap between hem and shoe and stops the foam reading oversized. On sizing, the adiFOM Q is generally recommended true to size, but it fits less predictably than a normal sneaker because a rigid foam shell will not stretch, so try a pair on if you are between sizes. Care is easy: wipe the foam shell with mild soap and a damp cloth, and keep it out of long direct sun so the off-white does not go yellow.
The adiFOM Q landed in the middle of the foam-shoe boom, when every brand was chasing a moulded, logo-light silhouette, and it was the pair that argued adidas had the idea in its archive the whole time. Pointing back at the Quake gave it a lineage to stand on instead of a trend to ride. It also refused to be a clog. Laces and a knit bootie make this a real shoe you can walk distances in and wear in weather, which is exactly where most foam silhouettes give up. Off White is the version that sits cleanest against the technical and gorpcore wardrobes the shape attracts, and it stayed the reference colorway of the line. Neutral, sculptural, and genuinely wearable.
An off-white foam shell wraps the entire upper and does the structural work, so the shoe holds its shape without panels or overlays propping it up. Cut-out sections down the side panels open it for airflow and expose the tan knit bootie underneath, which is the part that actually touches your foot: a sock-like inner that slides on fast and sits close. Traditional lacing runs over the top, so unlike a clog you can genuinely dial the tension in. Inside, an adiPlus drop-in sits under the bootee for cushioning, with foam padding through the tongue and collar. The midsole is polyurethane, light for how much shoe you are looking at, and the orange Trefoil on the tongue is the only break in the palette.
