Origin
Designed by Peter Moore and released on 21 July 2024 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in White/Sail/Neutral Grey/Oxidised Green. SE stands for the special editions Jordan Brand uses to push the 1 somewhere the standard programme will not go, and GS means it is built on grade school sizing, the run that has quietly become the most experimental part of the catalogue. Oxidized Green is the kind of colour that only exists because the brand stopped being a basketball supplier and became a design house with its own division from 1997 onward. A muted, weathered green over the 1 Mid reads like patina on metal rather than a team colour, which is a long way from the red, black and white that the model was born in and exactly why it lands.
Utility
Oxidized green wants earth and stone around it. Olive or khaki cargo trousers with a cream hoodie and a brown jacket puts the shoe in a family it belongs to, while cream or off white bottoms with a black tee let the green run as the single colour statement. Avoid navy, which fights this particular green and turns both muddy. The mid cut suits transitional weather and layers well with cuffed trousers that break just above the collar. Construction
The green sits across the overlays and Swoosh with lighter panelling underneath, so the shoe reads aged rather than bright, a deliberately desaturated finish rather than a saturated one. The mid cut brings a padded collar that wraps the ankle without the height of a full high top, which is why this cut dominates the grade school run: it is easier to wear and easier to size.
