Released on 21 April 2024 and part of adidas's Samba line. This release has a leather upper in Foowear White/Clear Sky/Blue. White with sky blue is the Samba OG at its lightest, a summer reading of a shoe that spent its early life indoors. The Samba is a flat, close cut football trainer, built so a player could feel the ball and the floor, and the fact that it now works with linen trousers is the whole story of adidas Originals in one shoe. adidas has been in the business of turning equipment into everyday wear since the Superstar left the court and the Stan Smith and Gazelle became the base layer of European casual dressing. A pale blue on white pair takes that inheritance and makes it seasonal, bright without being loud, and easy to wear in heat.
First recipe: cream linen trousers with a white shirt, where the sky blue is the only colour in the outfit and it does the work of a tie. Second: light wash denim shorts with a navy tee, letting the blue on blue play deliberately while the white base keeps it fresh. Perfect for summer, travel, brunches and evenings that stay warm. Sizing runs narrow and low, so half a size up is worth considering for a wide foot. Protect the white panels before first wear, wipe the midsole edge often since white rubber greys quickly, and avoid wearing them in rain because pale uppers water mark and dry slowly.
Light colourways of heritage silhouettes are how adidas keeps a decades old shape in constant rotation without changing it.
