Designed by Peter Moore and released on 31 March 2019 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in White/Black-Mystic Green. Mystic Green is the Air Jordan 1 Low speaking quietly. Peter Moore drew this silhouette in 1984 as team equipment in Chicago red, black and white, colours loud enough to register from the upper tier, and a soft muted green is the exact opposite instinct: a shoe that asks you to come closer. Jordan Brand, standalone inside Nike since 1997, has enough catalogue authority to sell the 1 in colours no basketball team would ever wear, and the softer end of that range has quietly become where most of the actual wearing happens. Soft green sits beautifully against natural fabrics. Recipe one: ecru linen trousers, a white tee, an unlined beige jacket, a warm neutral fit where the green reads as the only cool tone. Recipe two: light wash denim, a cream knit polo, a canvas cap, an easy weekend look. Avoid black, which flattens muted colours, and avoid other greens, which will look mismatched rather than tonal. Best in spring and summer on dry ground. Size true, lace firmly through the midfoot for hold, clean promptly since pale uppers record everything, and rotate rather than wearing daily so the leather recovers.
The Jumpman is what carries a colourway like this, a house mark strong enough that the shoe needs no palette to identify it. Peter Moore had Michael Jordan recreate the pose in Bulls gear, and the mark now works on apparel, bags and shoes with equal authority, in the same way that elephant print from the Air Jordan III signals the brand on its own. Michael Jordan remains the founding signature athlete and namesake, signed to Nike in 1984 with royalties attached, an arrangement almost nobody else in the sport had at the time.
A pale, desaturated green against a white base makes the 1's panel layout read as gentle shifts rather than hard blocks, which suits the low cut's lighter profile. The Wings logo remains at the collar, a mark from the line's earliest era, and Nike Air cushioning, in the line since the Air Jordan II, sits below. Muted colours are deceptively demanding: they show transfer and yellowing more than dirt. Keep these away from raw denim, protect before first wear, clean with a foam cleaner and a white cloth, and store out of sunlight, since soft greens shift tone under UV faster than saturated dyes do.
