Designed by Peter Moore and released on 1 December 2014 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a patent leather upper in White/Legend Blue. Legend Blue is a pale, powdery blue that Jordan Brand has used across the line for years, and on an SE version of the Air Jordan 1 Mid it gets the most surface area it can reasonably have. SE make-ups are where the brand alters materials, details or lace treatments rather than simply recolouring a general release, so this is a Mid with something extra rather than another palette swap. The pattern below it is the one Peter Moore designed with Bruce Kilgore for a Chicago Bulls rookie Nike signed on 26 October 1984, produced for him that November and sold to the public on 1 April 1985. Pale blue is as far from Chicago red as the line goes.
Two fits. Cool toned: grey wide leg trousers, a white tee, and a navy overshirt, letting the pale blue read as a lighter step in the same family. Or warm contrast: cream chinos with a tan knit, where the blue becomes the single cool note against everything else. The Mid collar suits a cuffed or cropped hem so the ankle break shows. The Mid fits like every other Air Jordan 1, true to size with a tight midfoot. Treat it as a dry weather shoe, brush the pale leather clean early, keep the midsole bright with a soft brush and mild soap, and store out of direct sun so the blue holds.
Jordan Brand runs a colour programme wide enough to cover a pale blue Mid and a Travis Scott Cactus Jack collaboration in the same season, and that range exists because the brand became a standalone Nike division in 1997 rather than staying a single signature model. Its collaborators now run from Off-White under Virgil Abloh, Dior, Comme des Garcons, Supreme and KAWS on the design side to Drake, Billie Eilish, J Balvin, Eminem and Nicki Minaj on the music side. A soft blue SE Mid is the accessible end of that same machine, the Jumpman as a wardrobe piece with no queue attached to it.
Leather upper across the standard panel set: perforated toe box, mudguard, eyestay, heel counter, and a padded ankle collar carrying the Wings logo, over a rubber cupsole with the forefoot pivot circle. Because the SE tag signals a detail change, check the tongue, heel and lace set for whatever separates this from a general release Mid. Legend Blue is low saturation, so the pair depends on a clean white midsole for contrast: let the sole go grey and the blue reads washed out rather than soft. Protect before first wear, brush dry before using soap, and keep the pale panels away from dark denim.
