Designed by Bruce Kilgore and released on 7 May 2021 as part of the Air Force 1 line. This release has the Sail/White/Light Zitron/Summit White/Opti Yellow colourway. To My First Coach is a dedication rather than a colour name, and it lands on the right shoe. Michael Jordan was a rookie at North Carolina age when Nike took its bet on him, signing him on 26 October 1984 to a six year deal worth 2.5 million dollars with a royalty attached, and the brand has kept his college programme close ever since: North Carolina sits alongside Georgetown, Cincinnati and Michigan among the college basketball programmes carrying Jordan Brand. A shoe named for a first coach speaks to the part of the story that happens before contracts, in gyms and driveways. The Air Jordan 1 Mid is the correct cut for it, being the one most people actually grow up in.
