Designed by Peter Moore and released on 12 November 2022 as part of Nike's Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a nubuck upper in Midnight Navy/Midnight Navy/Burnt Sunrise/White. Eastside Golf built its whole identity on putting golf in streetwear's language, and a low cut Air Jordan 1 is the most direct way to say it. The Air Jordan line exists because Nike signed Michael Jordan in 1984 and turned an endorsement into a business of its own, marketed through Spike Lee as the character Mars Blackmon, which made the shoe famous well beyond basketball. Taking that silhouette to a golf collaboration is a deliberate crossing of two very separate American dress codes. Nike itself has always been comfortable crossing lines, it started in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports importing Japanese running shoes, and it has been reinventing what a Nike shoe is for ever since.
Wear one: course adjacent, cream pleated shorts, a knit polo and a quarter zip, where the low cut reads intentional rather than borrowed. Wear two: street, dark straight leg denim, a heavy white tee and a varsity jacket, the classic frame for any Jordan 1 Low. Occasion is casual through smart casual, though not for actual play unless the outsole is spiked, which a lifestyle low is not. Fit runs true to slightly long, and the low collar means thinner socks work better. Care: condition the leather every few months, brush the midsole rather than soaking it, clean immediately after grass or mud contact, and keep shoe trees in them to slow creasing.
Nike's grip on youth culture came through basketball first and then through hip hop, with Air Jordans, Air Force 1s and Air Max models becoming staples of mainstream American dress from the 1980s onward and reappearing across 1990s and 2000s casual and athleisure looks. A golf collaboration on that silhouette works precisely because the two worlds have historically excluded each other. Worth correcting one persistent myth while we are here: the NBA did not ban the Air Jordan 1. The shoe cited under the league's uniform rule was the Nike Air Ship, and Nike paid the fines, then built a campaign out of the story. The legend outran the facts, which is very Nike.
A Jordan 1 Low is the cut down version of the original: the same panelled leather upper and wing logo geometry, with the collar dropped below the ankle so it wears like a casual shoe rather than a boot. The collaboration works through materials and colour placement rather than a reshaped last, which is the right call, since the outline is the recognisable part. Underneath sits a foam midsole with encapsulated Air, Nike's pressurised cushioning unit sealed into the midsole, and a rubber outsole with a pivot circle. Expect a firm, flat ride rather than a plush one. Leather panelling of this kind creases early across the toe box, and on a low cut it creases sooner because the flex is less supported.
