Released on 18 July 2025 and part of adidas's Samba Jane line. This release has a leather upper in Cloud White/Gum 3/Halo Blue. White with Halo Blue and gum is the Samba Jane at its most spring like, and the palette does a lot of work on a shoe whose shape is otherwise unchanged from a football training silhouette. The Samba was cut for players working on frozen ground, so the last is slim, the sole is flat and the profile is low. The Jane conversion swaps laces for an instep strap, which reframes the whole shoe as something closer to a school shoe or a flat than to sportswear. A white body with a pale, almost powdery blue and a caramel gum sole makes that reframing obvious. It is the version that looks least like it belongs on a pitch, which is the point of the exercise.
Recipe one: white wide leg trousers with a pale blue shirt worn loose, a soft summer palette where the shoe echoes the shirt and the gum sole adds the only warmth. Recipe two: light wash denim with a navy knit and bare ankles, where the strap keeps the shoe looking neat rather than sporty. Samba lasts run narrow and long, so a half size down suits slim feet and the leather widens with wear. Wear thin ribbed or no show socks, since thick socks fight the strap. Keep the white leather and pale blue overlays out of rain, clean marks the day they appear with a foam cleaner, and lift grey off the gum sole with an eraser sponge.
adidas's terrace silhouettes became everyday wear through adoption rather than promotion, the same way the Superstar left the basketball court. Run-DMC released My Adidas unpaid and had thousands of people hold their shell toes up at Madison Square Garden with an adidas executive watching, which produced the first endorsement deal between a musical act and an athletic company and, in Questlove's reading, hip hop's tipping point. The Samba arrived at ubiquity by the same route decades later. The Jane variant is what a silhouette does once it is everywhere: it changes closure and colour to find wardrobes the original shape never reached.
Underneath the strap this is orthodox Samba: leather upper, suede T shaped toe overlay protecting the zone a footballer wears through first, Three Stripes stitched through the sidewall doing structural work as well as branding, and a gum rubber outsole with minimal stack. adidas has used the stripes that way since acquiring the mark from Karhu Sports in 1952. Replacing the lace stay with a strap means the fit across the instep is fixed rather than adjustable, so the shoe either suits your arch height or does not. White leather carries the body with Halo Blue on the overlays and heel patch, and the gum sole warms both. Expect a flat, direct ride with very little cushioning underfoot.
