Designed by Tinker Hatfield and released on 11 January 2024 as part of Nike's Air Max 90 line. This release has a leather upper in Summit White/Cool Grey/Bright Crimson. Infrared is the accent most closely associated with the Air Max 90, the colour that people picture when they picture the shoe at all. It sits on a white and grey body with black panelling, framing the window Nike cut into the midsole so the pressurised gas unit would be visible, an idea the brand introduced with the Air Max in 1987 and turned into its design language. The 90 is the model where Nike stopped treating cushioning as a hidden benefit and started treating it as the point of the design, and the infrared accent exists precisely to point at it. Let the accent be the only loud thing. Recipe one: grey sweat shorts and a white tee in summer, with the infrared picking up a red cap or nothing at all.
