Nike Dunk Low SE Wheat

Designed by Peter Moore and released on 11 October 2024 as part of Nike's Dunk line. This release has a nubuck upper in Wheat/Wheat/Gum Yellow/Black. Wheat is a workwear colour, not a sports colour. It belongs to boots and to the trades, and Nike has used it for years as the reliable way to take a court silhouette out of the gym without changing its shape. On a Dunk Low SE, wheat swaps the usual two tone team blocking for a single earth tone that runs across the whole upper, which quietly changes what the shoe is for. It stops reading as a basketball reference and starts reading as something you would wear with heavy trousers in cold weather. This is Nike doing what it has done since it began putting its own shoes out under the Swoosh in the early 1970s: keeping the last, changing the language.
