Culture Note™

Light Blue is the Mexico 66 at its most open and least loaded. There is no film reference in a pale blue, no national kit, no tiger. What is left is the shape Onitsuka drew in 1966 when it built the Mexico line as a flagship to run at Adidas and Puma, released two years ahead of the 1968 Mexico City Games and the first shoe to wear the Tiger Stripes. A soft, chalky blue across the crossed stripes over a pale body makes the silhouette look longer and lower than it does in high contrast colours, because there is nothing to break the eye as it travels from heel to toe.
