New Balance 550 White Castlerock

Released on 1 July 2022 and part of New Balance's 550 line. This release has a leather upper in White/Castlerock. White Castlerock is the 550 doing the thing it does best: white leather with one grey to break it up. The 550 is New Balance's basketball silhouette, a low, hard edged court shoe from a part of the archive most people did not associate with the brand at all, and its return worked because it looks nothing like a New Balance runner. No mesh, no visible foam, no engineered panelling. Castlerock is one of the brand's own grey names, so even the accent comes from in house vocabulary. The result is the most straightforward white leather sneaker New Balance sells, with a court shape underneath rather than a tennis one.
