Designed by Bruce Kilgore and released on 2 February 2023 as part of Nike's Air Force 1 line. This release has a textile upper in Photon Dust/Photon Dust/Black/Game Royal/Stadium Green. The high top is the original shape of the Air Force 1 and the one that still looks most like a basketball shoe, ankle strap included. Photon Dust with Game Royal pairs a cool pale grey base against a strong true blue, a combination that reads sporty rather than luxurious and suits the taller silhouette. LV8 marks the elevated make up. Nike's basketball identity was built after the 1984 Michael Jordan signing and the Spike Lee directed advertising that followed, and the Air Force 1 High is the model that kept the physical language of that era: strap, collar height, visible bulk, no apology for any of it.
Two ways to run it. Grey sweatpants with a royal blue hoodie, matching the accent directly for a straightforward sports read. Or contrast: black wide leg trousers cuffed at the ankle with a white tee, so the shoe's bulk and the blue strap become the whole statement. High tops need trousers that stop at or above the collar; a long hem swallows the silhouette and wastes the shape. Size half down if narrow. Fasten the strap properly at least sometimes so the elastic and stitching keep tension, clean the grey panels with mild foam before marks set, and keep the collar padding out of standing water.
From the 1980s onward Air Force 1s became status symbols in urban and hip hop fashion and staples of mainstream American youth dress, returning through 1990s and 2000s casual and athleisure looks. The high top is the version that stayed closest to that original street reading, worn with the strap undone as an identifier long before anyone called it heritage. Nike remains the official on court uniform supplier to the NBA, WNBA and G League under a relationship running since 2017 and extended for a further twelve years, so the basketball reference in this shape is still live rather than purely nostalgic.
A leather upper on the Air Force 1 High last with a padded high collar, the adjustable ankle strap that defines the silhouette, perforated toe box and stitched Swoosh overlay, over a foam midsole with Nike Air sealed inside and the pivot circle rubber outsole. The strap is functional: fastened, it locks the ankle and changes the whole feel of the shoe, and many people wear it loose or tucked, which is a style decision rather than a fault. Photon Dust is a pale warm grey that resists dirt better than white while keeping the shoe light in profile, and Game Royal on the Swoosh and strap does the graphic work. Break in takes longer than a low because the collar needs softening.
