    Culture Note™

Designed by Peter Moore and released on 1 April 2024 as part of Nike's Dunk line. This release has a leather upper in Dark Stucco/Vintage Green/Summit White/Alabaster. Nike moved into its Beaverton, Oregon world headquarters in 1990 and opened the first Niketown in downtown Portland the same year, a shop built as spectacle rather than as a shelf. That was the moment the company decided the city itself was part of the product. Urban Landscape 2.0 is a premium Dunk Low that takes the same idea and puts it on a shoe: not a team colourway, not a court reference, but the tones of built environment, the greys and muted mineral shades of streets you actually walk. The 2.0 in the name tells you this is a second pass at an idea Nike liked enough to revisit, which is how the Dunk has survived: repeat, adjust, repeat.
Recipe one, city uniform: charcoal wide leg trousers, a grey crew sweat, a black shell jacket, low socks. Everything mineral, the shoe as the texture break. Recipe two, softer: ecru pleated chinos, a washed denim shirt, a knit cap. Muted premium tones do a lot of work against warm neutrals. This is a walking shoe for dry days and a good travel choice because it goes with almost anything you packed. Care is the usual Dunk discipline: dry brush after each wear, foam cleaner only on the midsole, no washing machine, and dry away from direct sun so the upper does not stiffen or fade unevenly.
Nike's cultural position was not built by shoes alone. It was built by advertising with Wieden and Kennedy from 1976, by the Spike Lee directed Mars Blackmon films for Michael Jordan, and by retail theatre like Niketown that made buying feel like visiting. City themed releases lean on all of that. From the 1980s onward, Nike silhouettes became status objects in urban and hip hop fashion and then plain furniture of mainstream youth dress, which is why a shoe can be sold on the colours of a streetscape and everybody understands the pitch immediately. The reference is not a place, it is the idea that the brand and the pavement belong to each other.
PRM in a Dunk name signals the upper has been given more attention than a general release gets, and the Dunk Low is the right canvas for that because its panels are large and unfussy. What you feel on foot is unchanged: a low collar that clears the ankle, a flat and stable ride, a shape that sits close to the ground. Nike's construction lineage here is the waffle tread, invented when Bowerman poured rubber into a waffle iron, which is still the reason a flat soled Nike grips dry pavement well. Premium uppers reward care. Keep these out of standing water, brush regularly, and use shoe trees or paper to hold the toe box shape.
