Origin
This is the Mind 002 in a four tone run: light smoke grey and photon dust as the base, hyper crimson as the strike colour, chrome as the finish. Grey on grey with one hot accent is the oldest trick in Nike's performance palette, going back to the era when the brand dressed track athletes like Steve Prefontaine, its first track endorser and still the figure it built its running identity around. The Mind line itself is newer thinking, aimed at the space around effort rather than effort itself. Listed here under performance footwear, it belongs to the part of an athlete's day that has no clock on it, which is a category Nike only recently decided to design for properly.
Utility
Grey and crimson works hardest with clean athletic dressing: black training tights or shorts, a grey hoodie, crimson only appearing at the foot. The second recipe is travel, with wide charcoal trousers and a plain white tee, where the chrome edge keeps the outfit from going flat. Use them after training, on long standing days and in transit rather than for any session with lateral movement. Take your usual Nike size. Chrome detailing sits at the edges as a reflective accent rather than a surface. Nike's engineering signatures point at reducing what sits between the foot and comfort, whether that is Flywire holding the foot with minimal upper material or a foam that simply gets out of the way. Nothing here is built for cutting or sprinting, and the build does not claim to be.
