Released on 1 October 2025 and part of Nike's Air Max Muse line. This release has a synthetic upper in Pink Spell/Pink Glow. Air Max Muse is a women's led reading of the Air Max idea, which is a more interesting proposition than it sounds. The line began in 1987 when Nike sealed a pressurised gas unit into a midsole and then, unusually, cut a window so you could see it, converting an engineering feature into the whole visual identity of a shoe. Muse takes that inheritance and rebuilds the proportions around a different silhouette and a different wardrobe. Pink Spell pushes it further from the gym, using a soft, warm colour where the original Air Max range shouted in primaries. It is the version of Air Max designed to be styled rather than to be trained in, and it does not pretend otherwise.
Pink asks for restraint everywhere else. First recipe: cream or oatmeal wide leg trousers with a white tee and a light grey knit, so the shoe warms a neutral outfit without shifting its temperature. Second: washed black straight jeans and an oversized denim jacket, where the pink cuts against the dark wash and becomes the focal point. Avoid pairing it with a second pink, because tonal pinks rarely agree unless they are exact. This is a walking, brunch and travel shoe rather than a training one. Protect it with a fabric repellent before the first wear, spot clean the upper with a soft brush and mild solution, and keep the midsole out of direct sunlight to slow yellowing.
Air Max earned its place in ordinary wardrobes rather than being placed there. From the 1980s onward Air Max models, alongside Air Jordans and Air Force 1s, became staples of mainstream American youth dress, then reappeared through 1990s and 2000s casual dress and again through athleisure, which is three separate cultural lives for one sole unit. Nike also has a long record of building around women athletes, with Serena Williams as an endorser and sponsored track athletes including Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Allyson Felix. A women's Air Max in a soft palette is where those two threads meet: performance heritage and a wardrobe that never needed to look like sportswear.
The construction argument on any Air Max shoe happens under the foot. Nike Air is pressurised gas sealed inside the midsole, and since 1987 the brand has treated the visible unit as the design centre rather than a hidden component, which is why the sole on a shoe like this carries more attention than the upper. Above it you get a layered upper in the Pink Spell palette, panelled so that colour shifts across the shoe rather than sitting flat. Soft pink tones show scuffing at the toe and along the midsole sidewall faster than darker colourways, and the midsole is the part that yellows if you leave it in strong sun. Store it out of the light.
