Origin
Natural is the Boost 350 V2 stripped back to the idea the label started with. When the model launched on 24 September 2016 the early palette ran through Pirate Black, Oxford Tan, Turtle Dove and Moonrock, colours named for materials and terrain rather than seasons, and Natural is the purest restatement of that thinking: an undyed looking greige that reads like raw fibre before anyone decided what to do with it. It is the opposite of the reflective and mottled colourways that came later. That restraint is why it works as a first Yeezy for people who never wanted the attention that came with the loud ones. Kanye West founded the label in 2013 with the aim of controlling design directly, and the flattest colourways are where that control shows most clearly.
Utility
Undyed greige is the most flexible colourway in the family, so let it disappear into a considered outfit. First recipe: off white wide leg trousers, a stone linen overshirt, a white tee, all within two shades of the shoe for a full tonal look. Second recipe: dark indigo jeans and a black crew sweatshirt, where the pale shoe becomes the only light point in the fit. Occasion: everyday, office adjacent casual, travel days that end in a restaurant. Fit runs narrow through the midfoot and snug at the toe, so half a size up is the common call. Care is non negotiable on undyed knit: brush dry after every wear, treat with a protectant spray before first use, spot clean with mild soap, and never put them in a machine.
Influence
The 350 V2 turned the sneaker drop into a mainstream cultural event. Limited stock, announced release times, queues and bots produced a resale economy that changed how the entire industry launches product, and this silhouette became one of the most recognisable of the 2010s. At its peak the line was worth roughly two billion dollars a year to adidas. The partnership ended on 25 October 2022, when adidas terminated it after Kanye West made antisemitic public remarks that the company stated were unacceptable, hateful and dangerous and violated its values. Natural sits in the later run of that story, released when the earth toned template had already been imitated across every tier of the market.
Construction
Primeknit builds the upper, the one piece machine knitted construction that gives the 350 V2 its sock like fit with no traditional panels, and Natural runs a single undyed tone across it so the knit structure supplies all the visual interest. Boost sits underneath, the expanded TPU pellet foam responsible for the model's bounce and its speckled surface, and in this colourway the sole and upper sit within a shade of each other so the shoe reads as one continuous object. There is no visible logo, which is standard across most adidas Yeezy models. Practically, an undyed knit is honest: it will darken at the flex points and take on the character of where you walk, which some owners want and others should avoid.
