Run in it first. This is an easy day and long run shoe rather than a tempo shoe, so pair it with regular training socks, lace it snug through the midfoot because a knit upper needs the laces doing the holding, and rotate it with a firmer trainer rather than wearing it daily. Off road, first recipe: black tapered joggers and a plain tee, where the white upper and blue accents look intentional rather than accidental. Second: grey sweat shorts with a crew sock for warm weather, a proper runner's off duty look. Air dry only, never near a radiator, brush the knit dry before it sets, and expect the foam to soften over time before the outsole wears out.

ZoomX is also where Nike ran into the sport's rule makers, and the record deserves precision. The Vaporfly was not banned. World Athletics issued rules on 31 January 2020 capping sole thickness at 40mm, limiting shoes to one rigid plate and requiring general retail availability, and compliant Vaporfly models remained legal. That episode confirmed what Bill Bowerman believed when he poured rubber into a waffle iron in Oregon: that better shoes change what runners can do. Two things define this build. The upper is Flyknit, a knitted single piece that holds the foot with structure worked into the weave rather than with stitched overlays, and the midsole is a tall stack of ZoomX. That combination is why it feels unlike a normal trainer: soft and springy underfoot in a way that takes a run or two to calibrate, with the knit stretching where your foot swells over distance. White Flyknit is the least forgiving upper Nike makes for road use, since knit absorbs grime rather than shedding it, and the Cobalt Bliss accents are what stop the whole thing looking clinical. Do not tumble dry it, because heat is what kills a foam this soft.
