Released on 24 May 2023 and part of Nike's ZoomX Streakfly line. This release has a mesh upper in White/Obsidian/Bright Crimson. White with Bright Crimson is the plainest way to make a fast shoe look fast: a clean upper, one hot colour, nothing else competing. The Streakfly is Nike's short distance racer, using ZoomX, the altered Pebax foam that is the lightest and most responsive in its range, in a lean, low package rather than in the tall marathon platform the same material made famous. This is the shoe for the distances where you are working at your limit from the gun. The colourway suits that honesty: no story, no theme, just a racing shoe that looks like one and does not pretend otherwise.
Two uses. One, racing short: five and ten kilometre road races, park runs and track sessions, with thin socks and laces tight enough that nothing shifts when you accelerate. Two, workout days: intervals, strides and pace practice in the fortnight before a goal race. Keep them off your easy runs, because the foam's fast life is finite and easy pace does not use what you paid for. Clean by brushing and spot treating with mild soap, never in a washing machine, dry in shade with insoles out, and store flat rather than crushed in a kit bag. Retire them once the rebound fades, however clean they still look.
Nike's Indian story shows how differently a global brand can land in one market. It entered in 1995 through a licensing deal with Sierra Industrial Enterprises, now SSIPL, won the BCCI kit sponsorship in 2005 with a bid of about 1.97 billion rupees against adidas at 1.28 billion and Reebok at 1.19 billion, and renewed in 2011 at about 2.70 billion rupees, yet cricket never exceeded roughly two percent of its Indian sales. Priced around thirty percent above competitors, the business struggled for years and closed roughly 200 stores from 2017. Its most credible Indian audience turned out to be runners, not fans.
Everything here is stripped for weight. Expect a thin upper with minimal structure, a low and lean midsole using ZoomX for responsive cushioning, and a fit that should be snug enough to keep your foot still at pace, with only a small amount of toe room. Durability is the deliberate compromise: racing foam loses its rebound sooner than training foam, and a lightweight upper will not survive daily use. In dusty or humid conditions the white panels dirty quickly, so brush after each use rather than letting grime bed in, and always let the shoe dry fully between sessions. Sizing should be true to length with a snug midfoot rather than roomy.
