Designed by Peter Moore and released on 21 March 2024 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a satin upper in Sail/Black/Varsity Red/Muslin/Baltic Blue/Yellow Strike. Trophy Room releases are among the most fought over pairs Jordan Brand puts out, and the Away edition applies that treatment to the Retro Low OG, the version of the 1 cut to original proportions with the ankle taken off. Away is a deliberate framing: a home and away pair of colourways borrowed from sport's oldest kit convention, applied to a shoe whose founding palette came from a Chicago uniform. The 1 itself was designed by Peter Moore with Bruce Kilgore for a rookie Nike signed on 26 October 1984 and released to the public on 1 April 1985. The Low OG is the connoisseur's cut, closer to the original last than a standard low, which is why limited programmes keep choosing it.
A limited low is best worn plainly so the shoe is obviously the point. Recipe one: black straight leg jeans, a plain white tee and a black bomber, hem cuffed once so the OG collar line shows. Recipe two: light grey sweatpants with a white hoodie, the fit that lets the leather quality and the accessory laces do the work. Keep the socks white or black and nothing patterned. Because these hold value, decide early whether you are wearing or holding them, since one wear on wet pavement changes that maths permanently. If you wear them, rotate with a daily pair, use trees between wears and keep the original laces bagged.
Limited Jordan releases are the engine of a resale market valued at roughly 2 billion dollars, with original 1985 pairs trading around 20,000 dollars on StockX. That economy exists because the brand learned early that scarcity and conflict sell: the Banned advertising was built on a league rule requiring shoes at least 51 percent white and a 5,000 dollar per game fine Nike chose to pay rather than redesign anything. Every capsule release since has run on that lesson. Jordan Brand has been a Nike division since 1997, and by 2022 it generated about 5.1 billion dollars, with limited programmes doing outsized work for that number relative to their volume.
Leather upper on the OG low last, which sits slimmer through the midfoot than the general release low and shapes to the foot faster. Limited programme pairs usually carry upgraded material and finishing detail, so check the leather hand and the panel edges when they arrive, that is what you are paying for. Flat rubber cupsole with the forefoot pivot circle underneath, firm and close to the ground with no cushioned foam. Special packaging and extra lace sets are common on this kind of release, and they matter to resale value, so keep the box and the accessories intact. Brush after each wear and use a foam cleaner on the midsole before marks set into the foxing tape seam.
