Designed by Peter Moore and released on 24 January 2023 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Black/Black/Iron Grey/White. Croc embossing on a golf shoe is a very deliberate joke about status, and Jordan Brand is well placed to make it. The Air Jordan line has form here: the eleventh model put patent leather, a formal wear material, onto a basketball court, and that decision is the reason people wear that shoe with suits. A croc textured black Air Jordan 1 Low built for golf continues the same argument on a different surface, taking a luxury material code onto a course. The Low is the easiest cut in the family to wear, and black makes the texture the only thing to look at. Style code DD9315 003 puts it in the golf programme rather than the street line.
On the course, wear it with black or charcoal trousers and a white or grey polo so the texture is the only detail in play, and keep any belt black to match. Off the course, black croc with dark selvedge denim and a black bomber turns it into a night shoe, which is the second life this makeup is really built for. Do not pair it with brown leather. The Low needs no cuffing. Sizing runs long for many feet. Use a soft brush along the grain of the embossing to clear grit, avoid saturating the texture with water, and dry it away from heat so the relief does not flatten.
Jordan Brand has spent decades moving outside basketball, from the Michigan Wolverines football programme to Paris Saint-Germain in association football, and golf is the quietest and most personal of those extensions. It is also where the brand's material games make the most sense, because golf clothing has always negotiated between sport and club dress. Using an exotic texture recalls the logic that put patent leather on the eleventh model: performance shoes made from formal materials read as status objects, and status is what a course is partly about. Black keeps it composed rather than gaudy, which is the correct decision here.
The upper carries a croc embossed finish in black, so the shoe's visual interest comes from surface relief rather than from colour blocking: at distance it reads as a plain black Low, up close it reads as texture. Underfoot, the golf build replaces the court pattern with a traction outsole intended for turf, which is the functional difference between this and the standard Low. The panel map is still the 1985 one, with separate toe, quarter and collar sections divided by stitching. Embossed leather traps dirt in the pattern, which is the trade off you accept for the look. The low collar leaves the ankle free through a swing and means no break in period worth mentioning.
