Origin
Released on 23 April 2024 and part of the Jordan Tatum 2 line. This release has a textile upper in White/Black/Wolf Grey/Electric Green. Jayson Tatum is a signature NBA athlete for Jordan Brand, which puts him in the small group of players the division builds a whole line around. That structure only exists because the brand became a standalone Nike division in 1997 with its own roster, apparel and collaborations, rather than staying a single signature model. The Tatum 2 is a working basketball shoe from that programme, and Neon is a colourway chosen to be seen: high visibility on a floor where every other shoe is trying to disappear into black or white. If the original 1984 idea was buying a young player's identity, this is the same bet placed on a forward whose game is built on reading space.
Utility
Neon is a performance colour, so lean into it. On court: bright shoe, plain uniform, white or black crew socks, and a warm up long enough that you are not testing the outsole cold.
