Part of the 204L line. This release has a suede upper in Black/Timberwolf. Black Timberwolf is the 204L doing the least, which is the point of the model. New Balance made its name on shoes people chose because they worked, starting from arch supports in 1906 and building a business on fit and support long before it built one on desirability. The 204L is a purpose built lifestyle shoe rather than a reissued runner, designed for pavement hours instead of for a race that never happens. Black with a warm grey brown running through it is the most usable version of that idea: dark enough to disappear under anything, warm enough not to read as pure black, and quiet enough that the block N on the side wall is the only thing announcing the brand.
