New Balance Wmns 327 'black White Gum'

Released on 21 July 2022 and part of New Balance's 327 line. This release has a suede upper in Black/White/Gum. Black White Gum is the women's 327 borrowing a piece of old running shoe vocabulary. Gum rubber was what outsoles were made of before the industry standardised on white, and putting it under a black and white upper gives the shoe a warmth that a full white sole would strip out. The 327 already trades on that kind of memory. It takes the low profile and flared outsole of New Balance's older racing shapes and enlarges the block N, the house mark, until it runs across most of the side wall. Adding gum finishes the reference without turning the shoe into a period piece.
