Culture Note™
Designed by Peter Moore and released on 18 October 2025 as part of Nike's Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Pale Ivory/Pro Green/Fir/Coconut Milk. The Air Jordan 1 High OG is the original shape from the deal Nike signed with Michael Jordan in 1984, a signing that grew into a line and then into a business of its own inside the company. OG means the proportions and detailing are kept close to that first version rather than modernised. Fir Pro Green takes it into a deep forest tone, one of the darker greens the model gets, blocked against white so the wing, toe and heel panels stay readable. In the women's cut it sits slimmer through the midfoot, which changes the silhouette more than people expect.
Two builds. Winter tonal: black or charcoal straight leg trousers with a cream knit, letting fir green work as a dark neutral. Sport heritage: mid wash denim, a white tee, white socks pulled slightly high, which is how this shoe was worn before it was collected. Jordan 1s fit true to slightly long, and the women's cut is narrower, so try it with your usual socks and expect the collar to soften after a few wears. Keep it out of rain, and store it with trees in so the panel above the toe box creases slowly rather than folding sharply.
Spike Lee directed the Air Jordan advertising and appeared in it as Mars Blackmon, which is how a basketball shoe became a character in American popular culture. From the 1980s onward Air Jordans, Air Force 1s and Air Max models made Nike a status symbol in urban and hip hop fashion and then staples of mainstream youth dress, returning again through 1990s and 2000s casual and athleisure looks. The Jordan 1 High OG is the centre of that story, and colourways are how people navigate it. A deep green pair is a choice for someone who wants the silhouette without the most photographed palettes.
The build is leather panels stitched into the familiar arrangement, a padded ankle collar, a full length Swoosh, and a flat court outsole with no cushioning story to tell. That plainness is why the shoe has lasted. Deep green leather is the material to think about here: it shows water spotting more clearly than black and cannot be corrected once marked, so wipe with a barely damp cloth, condition sparingly and evenly, and let it dry away from heat. Keep the white panels and midsole clean from the first wear, because on a high contrast colourway a dull white ages the whole shoe faster than the green does.
