Designed by Peter Moore and released on 21 September 2022 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Black/White/Fire Red. Bred Toe rearranges the founding palette rather than repeating it: black takes the eyestay and collar, red takes the toe, white holds the quarter panel, so the shoe is split into three clear blocks instead of two. Black, red and white have worked as brand colours since Nike signed Michael Jordan on 26 October 1984 and built a shoe around a rookie it hoped would give the company a face in basketball. On the Mid, the cut made for wearing rather than collecting, that three way split is the most information the silhouette can carry without adding a single new material. It is the archive palette used as pure geometry.
Let the blocking dictate the outfit. Black jeans, a white tee and a black jacket mirrors the shoe's three zones without matching it item for item. For something looser, grey sweatpants cuffed above the collar and a white hooded top makes the red toe the only colour in the frame. Do not wear red above the waist; it doubles the accent and kills it. The Mid works under a single cuff and disappears under a stacked hem. Wipe the white panel after every wear, keep them dry so red does not migrate, and use paper or a tree to hold the toe box shape between wears.
Red and black on a Jordan still carries the Banned story, and the accurate version matters. The NBA's uniform policy required shoes to be at least 51 percent white and carried a 5,000 dollar per game fine; the shoe actually cited was the Nike Air Ship prototype Jordan wore before the 1 released, and Nike paid rather than redesigning, then built a campaign on it. That episode taught the market that transgression sells, a lesson the resale economy around this shape, valued at roughly 2 billion dollars, has been living on ever since. Bred Toe is the palette's most graphic arrangement.
Three block colour work depends on how the panels are cut and joined, and the 1 gives you separate toe cap, eyestay, quarter and Swoosh to judge. Check the toe to vamp seam first, since that edge defines the whole look. The Mid collar is padded and sits below the ankle bone, the toe box carries perforations, and underneath is a flat rubber cupsole with no cushioning window, because Nike Air entered the line at the Air Jordan 2 rather than the 1. Red panels sitting against white are the risk here: never store the pair damp, and clean the white with foam and a soft brush worked along the seams.
