Designed by Peter Moore and released on 21 July 2024 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in White/Sail/Neutral Grey/Oxidized Green. Oxidized Green names a colour that looks aged on arrival, the pale blue green of weathered copper, and applying it to a special edition Mid is a deliberate softening of a shoe whose famous palettes are all high contrast. The Air Jordan 1 can take it because the silhouette does the identifying, not the colour. The line has been running this kind of experiment since Tinker Hatfield turned it into a design series from the Air Jordan 3 onward, establishing that a Jordan could carry its own material and colour codes. Oxidized green is a wardrobe colour borrowed from architecture and patina rather than from a team sheet, and that is precisely its appeal.
Oxidised green wants warm neutrals. Wear it with stone chinos and a white shirt for a spring fit that lets the colour read as considered rather than sporty. For a cooler take, charcoal trousers with a cream knit keeps the green as the only soft note in a hard palette. Avoid navy, which fights blue greens, and avoid other greens entirely. The Mid collar sits well under a single cuff. Protect before first wear, brush dust rather than scrubbing, and keep them out of rain, since desaturated dyes show water marks more clearly than deep colours do.
Special edition colour work is what a general release looks like once the brand has spent decades in fashion. Jordan Brand's partners include Off-White under Virgil Abloh, Dior, Comme des Garcons, Supreme and KAWS, and its music collaborators run from Travis Scott to Drake, Billie Eilish, J Balvin, Eminem and Nicki Minaj. That company changed the expectation of what colours the 1 could hold. The underlying recognition still comes from the original run, Spike Lee's Mars Blackmon advertising and the hip hop generation that made the shoe part of the language.
Muted greens sit best on this shoe because they blur the hard panel breaks that a two tone build emphasises, so the Mid reads as one form rather than four pieces. The structure is standard: separately stitched toe cap, eyestay, quarter and Swoosh, a padded mid height collar, perforations across the toe box, and a flat rubber cupsole with no air window, since Nike Air arrived in the line at the Air Jordan 2. Pale desaturated dyes fade in sunlight faster than saturated ones, so keep the pair boxed between wears, clean with a pH neutral foam, and dry at room temperature rather than in warmth.
