Origin
Released on 28 October 2021 and part of Nike's Dunk SB line. This release has the Coconut Milk/Seafoam/Yellow Strike colourway. The Dunk arrived in 1985 as Peter Moore's College Color High, then Nike rebuilt it for skateboarding and handed the SB version to skaters like Reese Forbes and Gino Iannucci, which is how a college basketball shoe became the most collected silhouette in skate. Nike SB's Halloween drops are their own tradition inside that story, and the Mummy is the direct sequel to the Night of Mischief Dunk from 2019. It landed in October 2021 at 110 dollars in Coconut Milk, Seafoam and Yellow Strike, and the concept is committed the whole way through rather than printed on top. The Nike Dunk Low SB Mummy is a costume built to be skated, which is exactly why it aged into a chase pair instead of a novelty.
Utility
Two ways to wear it. Off-white canvas with the seafoam Swoosh is a daylight shoe: cream or sand carpenter pants, a washed tee, socks pulled high so the blue reads deliberate. For nights, black wide-leg denim and a black hoodie hand the whole job to the glow sole once the lights go down. On sizing, the SB Dunk Low fits true to size, but the thick padded tongue, deeper ankle collar and Zoom Air insole eat interior volume, so if you are coming from regular Dunks or have wide feet, take the half size up. Care is different here than on a normal Dunk: the tearaway canvas is engineered to shred, so brush it gently, spot clean only, and never machine wash unless you want those mummy eyes showing early.
Influence
Nike SB built its standing by giving skate shops shoes that told jokes, and the Mummy is one of the best told. It survives its own theme, because at arm's length it reads as an off-white canvas Dunk with blue Swooshes and nothing else. Nobody has to know it glows. The Halloween SB run it belongs to, following Night of Mischief, is the closest thing the line has to an annual holiday, and the Mummy is the entry people actually chase. It left retail at 110 dollars and now trades far above that in India, which tells you where demand sits. Among Dunk collectors it functions as a storytelling grail rather than a logo flex, and those are the harder ones to find.
Construction
The upper is distressed, aged-look canvas with crossing stitch lines so it reads as bandage wrap rather than graphic. It is a real tearaway: the textile is designed to shred at the heel as you wear it, and what surfaces underneath is a set of cartoon mummy eyes, so the shoe visibly ages into the joke instead of just getting dirty. Light blue suede Swooshes sit at the midfoot with blue trim along the overlay edges. Beneath it all is a full glow-in-the-dark sole unit, the detail that earns its keep the second the lights drop. Inside, the Eye of Horus sits on the inner tongues and the insoles carry toilet roll and beetle graphics over SB's Zoom Air cushioning.
